10-10-10= not my day

last december, when we were still living in seattle, a friend of mine and fellow twin-mama told me that she was going to be running the portland 1/2 marathon in october of the following year.  my interest was piqued, and when i found out that the run was going to be the first time ever that the portland marathon  was offering a half-marathon version, and that the race was going to happen on the very cool date of 10.10.10, i was in!
i asked greg to register me for the event as a christmas present, and the training began!  a few weeks into my journey, i broke my toe (my first broken bone ever!) and training came to a screeching halt.  and a couple weeks after that, just as my foot was recovering and walking was feeling somewhat normal again, i started feeling really tired and nauseous all the time...
so, back in january, the game plan changed from half marathon on october 10th to have-a-baby on october 10th, but it looks like this kid wasn't in on the plan!
and while i have to admit that my patience with this pregnancy is waning, i am so proud of my friends who did run today, pouring rain and all!  congrats to HD, SC and especially SF who placed 8th in her age group under the pseudonym heather keeling!

  1. Dear Mama,
This is your marathon, and running is a very individual event. Here's to your Personal Best!

  3. I think 10/20/10 has a nice ring, though you probably shudder at the idea!
