the big group photowe are thrilled to report that our first ever camping trip with twins was a success! our friend tracy suggested a campground she had been to before that is just 45 minutes east of seattle, in carnation, washington, so we packed up all the essentials and headed out on friday afternoon. i am embarrassed to admit that our little family of four plus dog and baby gear had so much stuff that we couldn't all fit in one car (but maybe would have fit in one minivan???), so greg and adie lead the way and the kids and i followed.
there was a really neat suspension bridge that you crossed on foot to get to the campsite and it only took a few wheelbarrow loads to get all of our stuff up to our home for the weekend- a cozy little yurt! we were absolutely thrilled with the yurts, and i would recommend them to anyone who wants to camp, but isn't prepared to live in a tent! the yurts at this particular campground had two double futons, a bunk bed, and tables and chairs. they also had a little heater, which was key, because it was really cold at night!
emmett and magnolia loved being outside for two days straight, and would literally go to the door in the mornings and beg to go out and play right away! we ate all of our meals outside, and greg cooked for all of us on a camp stove. we had such a great time hanging out with our friends for an entire weekend, and it really felt like we had a little community set up out there. the weather during the days was warm and sunny- you couldn't ask for better fall weather, and at night we bundled up in hats and coats and spent quality time around the fire.
we are already talking about more camping next summer, and how emmett and maggie will be so much bigger and capable of so much more. and even though we've only been home for a few hours, we already know that this was a weekend that we'll always remember. thanks aaron, tracy, darren, erin, nicola, lincoln and all the kiddos for being a part of such a cool weekend with us!
