not since the great chicken pox outbreak that swept through our home last spring have we been so shut down by illness. in fact, emmett and maggie have been pretty healthy little people their first year- they both had a memorable first cold back in january, then the pox epidemic in april, and now this. and by "this" i mean our household is only now starting to feel back to normal after five days and nights of living with and caring for two very sick little babies.
maggie seemed to get the worser version of this one, and on the weekend i was actually contemplating taking her to urgent care until i phoned an after-hours advice nurse and she reassured me a bit. it was just heartbreaking holding my little girl as she whimpered in discomfort for hours on end, and her 104 degree fever was scaring us all. emmett has had the "lite" version of this cold/flu- his fever was never higher than 101, and somehow he was spared the ever-running nose that mags has had since thursday- but he has had his miserable moments as well.
as i write this, bed is calling, and i am hoping that tonight will be a restful, healing night for us all. being sick is no fun!
