greg and i have been justifying our weekend breakfast dates with the rationale that soon, our days of being out sans twins will be few and far between. this morning we visited the portage bay cafe in the U district for the second time. ever since our first experience there, i have been dreaming of returning to the serve-yourself topping bar: any order of pancakes or french toast includes a trip to this little piece of heaven that is stocked with huge bowls of fruit and whipped cream. seriously, if you lean toward the sweet side for your first meal of the day, this place is not to be missed!
riding the after breakfast sugar high, we set out on a few errands. and now i'd like to illustrate a few minutes from today's version of my life as public property:
9:55am, coffee shop- barista asks "when does the bambino arrive?" i tell her that the bambinos will be here any day now. she replies, "yeah, it looks like there are two in there, but i didn't want to say..."
9:58 am, outside coffee shop- random guy who looks like a construction worker walks by us and says "i gotta ask- are you having twins?"
10:11am, in the grocery store- male shopper looks at me and then asks greg, "you having twins?"
OKAY! i get the point! i am giant. bigger than most. and apparently this is so obvious to everyone, that they feel compelled to share their observations of my belly with me!
people can be so obnoxious!!! i'll never forget going to get a pedicure (on my due date, nonetheless) and the lady asking when i'm due...i tell her and she freaked out a bit...little did she know shorty mcshort waited two more weeks to show her little face! hang in there!!!
ReplyDeleteYou must be used to the rudeness by now! I got so tired of being asked if they were "natural"-"no, they are fucking aliens, what do you mean?" Once they arrive people will want to know if you delivered them "naturally"- again "What does that mean? and number two, it's PRIVATE TOTAL STRANGER! BOG OFF!"
ReplyDeleteGosh-I'm awfully sweary tonight-must be the cava!

Man, people can just insert their feet into their mouths huh??
ReplyDeleteJust so you feel better, a friend of mine was here and saw your pictures (your most recent one) and said "Man, she looks so cute!" Hope that makes you feel better :)
ReplyDeleteUgh. I think other people bothered me more than the actual physical act of being pregnant. People can be asses. Hang tight - the end is near! And might I add, you do look fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteat least they aren't touching your belly all the time, like they were in mexico...
