it was so cool that my mom was able to be here for my 32 week (and possibly last...?) ultrasound this afternoon. i am always fascinated by the glimpse into the womb that this technology offers, and today was no exception.
exciting facts that were revealed in today's scan:
*emmett and magnolia are now BOTH head down in the vertex position. nice work, guys! (now please stay that way!)
*maggie has sprinted ahead in the big baby race. she is estimated at 5 pounds, 9 ounces which puts her in the 99th percentile- woohoo!
*emmett is going strong at 4 pounds, 15 ounces/86th percentile. and actually, the docs say it will be better for all involved if magnolia/baby A/the first to arrive is the larger of the two. (in case you're not following me here, she'll blaze the trail, and he'll have a nice exit route already made for him by his sister. if baby #1 is smaller, #2 can be a tough delivery.)
*we saw hair! i didn't even know you could see hair on an ultrasound! magnolia has a head of hair, and emmett has some peach fuzz goin' on.
*can i please do the math for all of you? i am carrying around an estimated 10 and 1/2 pounds of baby.
for you visual learners, think jicama (although that doesn't help me too much!). and here's what babycenter has to say about fetal development at week 32:
Your baby is taking up more and more space in your uterus and weighs as much as a large jicama -- about 3 3/4 pounds. (Length: about 16 3/4 inches, head to heel.)
